Package Builder/Editor
You can use the Package Builder/Editor window to create new packages or edit existing packages.
To create a new package:
- Make sure your AutoUpdater library is directly inside your application's folder (APP folder) and all other files are inside subfolders.
- Click the Prepare Package & Files button. This prepares a package of all the files inside your APP folder and subfolders.
- If your application has files in the OMNIS executable folder, the XCOMP folder, the OMNISSTARTUP folder, or the USERAPPPREFS folder, you can drag and drop those files onto the files list.
- Select and right-click files in the list to change or set various properties.
- You can drag and drop files from anywhere on your computer onto the files list. Just be sure to set the Target Root Folder and Target Subfolders Path properties.
- Once you have all the files listed which make up your application you can upload the package and the files.
- Make sure the Package Name and Release Type are correct.
- Click the Upload Package and Files... button.
All going well the package and the files will be uploaded to the files server specified in your AutoUpdater Files Server preferences.
To edit an existing package:
Only edit an existing package if files need to be added or deleted from the package! A package is just a description of the files which are to be included with your application and the target path for each file. Though both the package and the files are displayed in this window, do not confuse editing package with the uploading newer version files.
Use the Upload Files window if you have newer version files to release for an existing package!
- Click the Edit Pkg... button. This prompts you with a list of AutoUpdater packages currently on the files server specfied in your AutoUpdater preferences.
- Select the package you wish to edit. AutoUpdater will download the package and load it into the files list. The headed list columns will be adjusted to just the values which apply to editing a package.
- A new column, Include, will appear in the headed list. You can change this column's value by right-clicking and selecting Toggle Include/Delete. Set a package file to delete for a previously installed package file which you now want deleted from the runtime client's computer.
- Proceed with adding new files to the package by adding them to the list.
- When you are ready click the Upload Pkg Only... button. All going well the edited package will be uploaded to the files server.
If you have added any files to the edited package be sure to upload those files under the Upload Files tab.
